The oil company BP paid a huge fine for the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.
Recall that in April 2010 there was an explosion on the platform Deepwater Horizon, the consequences of which have led to an environmental disaster in the US Gulf of Mexico fell almost 5 million barrels of oil. It is worth noting that the scale of the disaster is enormous.
At the moment, the US government and BP have agreed on the amount of the fine to settle civil claims by the US and the five states. The fine amounts to 20.8 billion US dollars. It is noteworthy that the final amount of the fine is much higher than that of the previous agreement.
In general, a disaster for BP would cost 56 billion dollars.
