EY Company introduced an annual study of the level of corruption in the business environment. Russia has significantly improved its performance: over the past year the number of respondents citing widespread bribery in business, fell by almost a third. According to the survey, when 48% of Russian respondents last year reported that they consider the corruption in the corporate sector, a common occurrence, but this year this opinion was expressed by only 34%. This is 5 percentage points lower than the global figure and at the same level with the United States.
The situation with corruption in Russia is traditionally represented in very dark tones. This is usually due to the fact that on this topic expressed a variety of "experts" close to the Russian radical non-system opposition. But in fact, many things in Russia called corruption in industrialized countries considered lobbying or "super committee".
Of all the former Soviet republics of corruption is lower than in Russia, both in Belarus and the Baltic States. However, there is a specificity. In Belarus - a model of market socialism, where corruption is virtually non-existent, as in his time in the USSR. Baltic economies are too small and not rich. In fact, there is nothing to divide.
However, it should be noted and the actions of the Russian authorities aimed at the fight against corruption and the formation of a civilized business environment. The fall in oil prices and, as a consequence, reduced income and budget companies forced the Russian authorities to be more rigorous and principled on this issue. The peak of corruption in Russia has fallen to 90 years, for a second term of Boris Yeltsin. Then, the first president of Russia under the scheme mortgaging auctions is actually paid to support his oligarchs leading enterprises of the country. At the beginning of zero already Vladimir Putin refused to revise these schemes. However, after the recent history with the former shareholders of Yukos this issue was again discussed in society and the business press.
