70 th session of the UN General Assembly: Russia will continue the struggle for influence in the Middle East and former Soviet countries
Vladimir Putin has completed a business trip to the United States. The visit of the Russian President in the cradle of capitalism and democracy has been linked to the jubilee 70th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. Vladimir Putin touched upon the basic problems of the modern world: terrorism, the environment, trade and political war.
The Russian president expressed his concern about NATO's eastward expansion and the pressure on the post-Soviet countries from the West. As a result of this pressure erupted into civil war in the Ukraine. President urged to consider the opinion of residents of Donbass. This suggests that Russia's position on the conflict in Ukraine will not change, it does not change the US position, and that it was clear from the speech of Barack Obama at the same session.
Differing views of the two Heads of States and Syria. Russian leader said that the need to deal with a terrorist organization "Islamic State" with Bashar al-Assad. The President stressed that Assad is a dictator, but honestly fighting for peace on their land, but a number of developed countries impede this struggle, moreover, they nurtured terrorism to engage in redistribution of power in the Middle East.
Barack Obama, on the contrary, accused the current government of Syria that is happening in the country.According to Obama's unwillingness to strive for democracy led to the sad result, many countries in the Middle East.
Interestingly, Putin openly said that to date, some countries have set up a clandestine trade unions, bypassing the WTO and lead to unfair competition. The existence of such associations is carefully concealed, both from the global community and from the public.
There were words addressed to the UN. In recent years, there are disputes within the organization that need to change the method of decision-making of the United Nations, so that the veto of one of the countries still allowed to make a decision, for which the majority voted. It is clear that such reforms require Russian opponents to advance ideas hostile to us. The leader of Russia outlined the problem and stressed that the credibility of the United Nations must be unshakable.
To sum up briefly from the President said and draw conclusions, we can clearly say that Russia will continue to fight for influence in the Middle East and former Soviet countries. The Government does not accept the omission of the WTO and, in the absence of strict regulation, will look for reliable trading partners.
In addition to appearances at the General Assembly, Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Barack Obama. The meeting was held behind closed doors, as saying the two leaders can only guess. However, judging by how very different theses Putin and Obama's speech at the UN, we can say that in the next few years, relations between the two countries are unlikely to change, and therefore the geopolitical tensions in the world will continue.
